Lalendra Sinha, MD | Cardiology| Internal Medicine | Founder of South Island

Dr. Lalendra Sinha is a board certified Internist specializing in Cardiology and Cardiovascular Diseases and additionally is the founder of South Island. He seeks to connect traditional medicine to innovative healthcare practices, while implementing his old school style of patient care he was taught. His unparalleled dedication and clinical expertise enables him to give the best quality of healthcare, and has helped thousands of patients in the community. Dr. Sinha’s approach to examination inspires doctors to administer his methods into modern medicine.

 

 

Louis Carrera, MD | Internal Medicine | Nephrology

Dr Louis CarreraDr. Carrera specializes in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, with an interest in chronic kidney disease and hypertension. Dr. Carrera holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He received his medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn NY. His Nephrology training was completed at North Shore-Long Island Jewish’s Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY. His personal interests include classical music and endurance events. He trained as a classical violinist at the Pre-College Division of the Manhattan School of Music and enjoys attending concerts whenever possible. He also enjoys outdoor running and triathlons, having completed eight marathons, one ultramarathon, and four triathlons, including Ironman in Lake Placid in 2014

Donzella Dixon, MD | Internal Medicine

Dr. Donzella DixonDr Dixon has received her bachelors degree at University of the West Indies at Mona. She decided to pursue further studies and migrated to the USA in July 2000. She then completed her masters in Public Health at Columbia University in New York. She also completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at Downstate University Hospital of Brooklyn. Dr Dixon is now a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Association Of HIV Medicine, also is affiliated with the Mt. Sinai-Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. Dr Dixon had extensive experience in the prevention and management of chronic medical conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension And HIV.

Safdar Hussain, MD | Internal Medicine

Dr. Hussain is a board-certified physician with more than 10 years of experience who is dedicated to providing patient-focused, comprehensive medical attention to all his patients. Dr. Hussain began his residency in 2003 at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway and completed it in 2007. He also served as an internist in Chinle Hospital in Arizona.

 

 

Arthur Pinkhasov, MD | Internal Medicine

Dr. Pinkhasov is a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician. He graduated from St. George University and earned his medical degree. He completed his residency at Elmhurst Hospital Medical Center.  Dr Pinkhasov works together with his patients to find a method of treatment that will improve their level of functionality and quality of life. Dr. Pinkhasov speaks Spanish and Russian.

He is a dependable and reputable Internist and Primary Care doctor based in Brooklyn and Far Rockaway. Dr. Jhagroo attended the Medical University of Silesia, School of Medicine in Katowice, where he received his medical degree. He then moved to the United States to complete his residency in internal medicine at the Brooklyn Hospital Center and then obtained affiliation with Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, NY. Dr. Jhagroo is uncompromising in his dedication to the well-being of his patients, he is committed to giving the best care and establishing long-lasting relationships with them.

Yuliya Mitnitsky, PAC – Internal Medicine | Urology

Yuliya is our Physician Assistant. She has an affiliation with the American Academy Of Physician Assistants. Yuliya has a special interest in Urology with over 10 years of experience. Yuliya also enjoys patient education and coaching her patients in preventative health and wellness. Yulia is one of the favorite practitioners here at South Island Medical, she also speaks Russian.

 

 

Stephen Schuster, MD | OB-GYN

Dr. Schuster attended New York University, where he received his medical degree. He completed his internship at Kings County Hospital and his residency at Bellevue Hospital, where he was chief resident. Dr. Schuster holds his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, and is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He sees patients for a variety of reasons including pap smears, urinary tract infections, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and breast cancer screenings.

Dr. Grosman has completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at North Shore University Hospital/Long Island Jewish Hospital. He was exemplary in his training where he served as assistant Chief Resident and Chief Fellow. Dr. Grosman has authored numerous research publications and won prestigious awards in medicine. Aside from the management of liver, pancreatic and gastrointestinal disease, Dr. Grosman specializes in endoscopy, colonoscopy, capsule enteroscopy, advanced endoscopic therapeutic procedures, large colon and gastric polyp resection as well as Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

 

 

 

Harlan B. Spindler , DPM | Podiatric Medicine and Surgery

Dr. Spindler received his bachelors degree from Hofstra University and his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from NY College of Podiatric Medicine. His post graduate surgical training included rotations through various hospitals in Manhattan. Dr. Spindler is board certified in Podiatric Surgery by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Podiatry. He is also a Fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association and a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Spindler provides comprehensive care for all foot problems and accepts most insurance plans.

 

 

Dr. Omar F. Ahmed, MD | Neurology

something coolOmar Ahmed is a dedicated and thorough Neurologist. Dr. Ahmed’s medical education is extensive, beginning at the Medical College of Ohio. He then completed a research fellowship with the Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner College of Medicine in the department of surgery. Dr. Ahmed completed his neurology residency at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He specializes in the treatment of seizures and epilepsy, migraines, headaches, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis, and cognitive issues. Dr. Ahmed provides care services that include EEG, EMG, NCS, and neurology consultations. Dr. Ahmed also earned his master’s degree in business administration from the Cornell University’s Johnson Schoo

Jessica Villarante | Nurse Practitioner

Jesusa Villarante is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner  who graduated from CW Post Long Island University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Doctor of Medicine degree from UST and UPHS, Philippines. She spent most of her life in her hometown and flew in NY last 2005. Her nursing career started here in NY where she worked in ICU and Dialysis unit and passed her Nephrology Nurse certification. She speaks Tagalog and little Spanish.
